EmbedSocial vs Canva for Review Posts

3 min read

You want to turn your Google reviews into Instagram posts. You have probably heard of EmbedSocial and you already know Canva. Both can get the job done, but they work in completely different ways and cost very different amounts.

Here is an honest comparison.

Canva: the manual approach

Canva is a design tool. It gives you templates, fonts, colors, and a drag-and-drop editor. You can make a beautiful review post in Canva. You can also make an ugly one. The quality depends entirely on you.

What you do: Open Canva. Pick or create a template. Type the review text. Add the reviewer’s name. Add stars. Adjust the font size to fit the text. Add your logo. Pick your colors. Export the image. Upload to Instagram. Write a caption.

Time per post: 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how much you fuss with the design.

Cost: Free for basic features. Canva Pro is $18/month, but you do not need Pro for review posts.

The good: Full creative control. You can make the post look exactly how you want. No subscription required for basic use.

The bad: You do everything manually, every single time. You type the review text. You adjust the layout. You export the file. If a review is longer than your template was designed for, you spend five minutes trying to make the text fit. After a few weeks, the novelty wears off and you stop doing it.

EmbedSocial: the platform approach

EmbedSocial is a review management platform. It connects to your Google Business Profile, pulls your reviews, and lets you create social media graphics from them. It also does review widgets for your website, review collection, UGC management, and a bunch of other things.

What you do: Connect your Google Business Profile. Your reviews appear in a dashboard. Click “create social post” on a review. Customize the template. Export or schedule.

Time per post: 2 to 5 minutes.

Cost: EmbedSocial prices in euros. The Pro plan is EUR 29/month and is the cheapest tier that includes social posting; Pro Plus is EUR 49 and Premium is EUR 99.

The good: Reviews are pulled automatically. You do not type anything. Templates are pre-designed. You can schedule posts.

The bad: You are paying EUR 29+ per month for a platform full of features you probably do not use. The review widget, the UGC management, the analytics dashboard. If all you want is “turn my reviews into Instagram posts,” you are overpaying for a lot of extra stuff.

What both approaches miss

Canva gives you design control but no automation. EmbedSocial gives you automation but bundles it with a dozen features you did not ask for at a price that reflects the bundle.

Neither of them will send you a notification when a new five-star review comes in with a ready-to-post graphic. Neither of them lets you set up your brand once and generate every future post in 15 seconds. And neither of them gives you a free tier that actually lets you use the product without a watermark or a paywall on basic features.

The third option

Prizz sits between Canva and EmbedSocial. It pulls your reviews automatically like EmbedSocial, but it does one thing instead of twelve. Turn reviews into Instagram posts. That is the entire product.

You paste your Google Maps link. Your reviews appear. You pick a layout, set your brand colors and a background photo, and generate the graphic. When new reviews come in, the app sends you a push notification with the post already prepared. You tap share.

The free tier gives you 3 posts per month with all features, no watermark. Pro is $15/month for unlimited posts. Cheaper than EmbedSocial, faster than Canva, and focused on the one thing you actually wanted to do.

Which one to pick

If you already pay for EmbedSocial and use its other features (review widgets, UGC management, review collection), keep using it. The social posting feature works and you are already paying for it.

If you are a small business that just wants to post your best reviews on Instagram without spending EUR 29 a month or 20 minutes per post, try Prizz.

If you enjoy designing things and want full creative control over every pixel, use Canva. Just be honest with yourself about whether you will still be doing it in two months.
