How to Write an Instagram Bio for Your Business

Your Instagram bio should say what you do, where you are, and how to take the next step, in four lines or fewer.

Your Instagram bio is the short text block at the top of your profile. It is the first thing someone reads when they visit your page. For a business, it should answer three questions in four lines or fewer: what do you do, where are you, and what should I do next.

A good formula: line one is what you do (“Wood-fired pizza in East Austin”). Line two is a specific detail that makes you memorable (“Family recipes since 1987” or “Open until 2 AM”). Line three is a call to action (“Book a table” or “DM for appointments”). The link field should go to your website, booking page, or menu.

Avoid generic phrases like “Living our best life” or emoji-heavy bios that say nothing. Business owners who check your profile want to know if you are relevant to them. Answer that fast.
