A star rating is the numerical score (usually 1 to 5 stars) that a customer assigns when leaving a review. On Google, the star rating is the first thing visible on your Business Profile and the primary factor people use to filter and compare businesses.
Your overall star rating is the average of all individual reviews. A business with fifty 5-star reviews and two 1-star reviews will have roughly a 4.9 rating. Google displays this number prominently next to your business name in search results and on Maps.
For local businesses, the threshold that matters is 4.0. Below 4.0, many potential customers filter you out without reading a single review. Between 4.0 and 4.7 is solid. Above 4.7 with a high review count signals something special.
When sharing reviews on Instagram, the star rating is a visual shorthand that immediately tells the viewer “this is a positive review from a real customer.” Prizz displays the star rating prominently in every generated post.
